The Annual Election Period (AEP) begins October 15th and runs through December 7th, 2026. During this period, you are allowed to enroll in or change to a new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan for the 2027 plan year.
2027 Part D Plan Facts & Figures
- Next year there will be two fewer plans available (10). One carrier, Aetna SilverScript, is leaving the market and another (HealthSpring EXTRA) will migrate members to their sister plan HealthSpring Assurance.
- Three plans will see premium decreases and seven will see increases.
- Drug plan monthly premiums will range between $5.30 (WellCare Value Script) and $252.60 (Blue Shield Enhanced). Three plans will be under $10 a month and seven over $118 a month.
- The standard deductible will increase from $615 to $700. Four plans will have deductibles lower than the standard deductible.
- The total maximum a member will be out-of-pocket for covered medications will be capped at $2,400 (up from $2,100).
- A second round of Medicare-Negotiated price cuts will begin January 1, 2027, on 15 additional medications to include: Otezla, Breo, Linzess, Xtandi and Trelegy.
- Popular weight-loss drug Wegovy will be included in the negotiated pricing program and covered by all Part D Drug plans.
- Medicare Part D plans will cover many recommended vaccines at 100% including RSV, Tdap and Shingles (no copay or deductible). Note: Medicare Part B covers flu, H1N1 and COVID shots. Click link or a complete list of Covered Vaccines
- Financial Assistance called Extra Help is available to those who qualify and can help pay premiums, deductible and copays related to Medicare drug coverage.
